Russia vs South
Korea in Cuiaba.
Russia and South Korea have never met in a World Cup Finals
before; although they did play an international friendly match, at the Zabeel Stadium in
Dubai, last November.
Fabio Capello's Russia side won that game (2:1), with goals from Fyodr
Smolov and Dmitri Tarasov; after Kim Shin-Wook had given South Korea the lead in the 6th
After an uneventful first-half, the game in Cuiaba looked like it
was heading for a nil-nil draw.

Fabio Capello's goalkeeper training on Rob Green seemed to have an effect on Igor
Akinfeev, as the Russian goalkeeper fumbled the a speculative attempt from the South
Korean substitute, Keun-Ho Lee, in the 68 minute.
Russian substitute, Aleksandr Kerzhakov, managed to save his blushes six minutes later.
Thanks to the substitutes, Russia and South Korea managed to score a
goal each and share the points.
